What Vegas says about Brady, Pats

In the immediate aftermath of the NFL decision to suspend Tom Brady for the first four games of the season, one of the quickie thoughts was how this would affect the only thing that really matters: Vegas.

As you can see from this chart, the odds on the Patriots repeating as Super Bowl champs have taken a modest hit:

Since the smart guys in Vegas were “generally aware” that there was something coming regarding punishment, no action had been accepted on the Patriots since the Wells Report was published.

But now that the suspension is in, Vegas is back in action.

You can bet on the opening night game that has the Patriots hosting the Steelers. The line on that to start was Pats -6, but with the possibility that Brady will not play the line has gone down to Pats -1. According to a Vegas source, Brady is usually worth seven points in the line, but because the Pats have four months to prepare the disadvantage is lessened.
